Vending Machine Sales In The Winter
If you are new to the business of vending machines, you may be very happy with your level of sales. It can be a surprise though as winter sets in and your sales levels change though. They may soar and therefore you need to be prepared with the right supplies more often. They may dip though and this can affect your ability to maintain your business if you aren’t prepared for it.
There are many reasons why a particular vending machine location would see an increase in sales over the winter. For example those outside of retail stores are going to see more business. This is due to people out there shopping for holiday gifts. They are going to be out there more often than they normally would the rest of the year.
Some holidays mean people already have what you may supply in your vending machine. For example Halloween is a holiday that generally ends up with people having an abundance of candy at home. They may take some of it to the office to share as well. It is very possible that this scenario is going to result in candy not moving from your vending machine very fast for the month of November.
You can help to offset these losses though by changing what you offer for sale. Instead of so many choices of candy bars you may add something else that is healthier. If they have had enough of chocolate they may enjoy something salty. Those trying to lose weight may be a package of peanuts to help the get through the afternoon if their energy level is sluggish.
As the owner of a vending machine business, you need to be prepared for such fluctuations. They are a normal part of the business and nothing to be concerned about. However, you want to make sure your vending machine locations allow you continuous traffic. If it is placed outside of a swimming pool you won’t get much business at all in the winter.
It doesn’t take too much effort on your part to adjust what you offer to the customers. You do need to pay attention to what is selling though and what isn’t. You may need to rotate some items to your other vending machines so they don’t get stale. If your sales are soaring make sure you stock the machines more often. If you show up and they are wiped out you lost out on more potential sales.
It is important to be prepared for such changes. You have to continue to be able to please your customers regardless of what time of the year it is. They way they will continue to approach your vending machine without thinking twice about it.
With this information you will be able to determine if you have a site that is worth hanging on to when things slow down. The amount of changes in the volume of sales over the winter will vary so it can’t be predicted. If you don’t feel that your vending machine is making as much money as it should, consider finding better locations for them to increase your sales.
