Optimize Your Site For Google With Links
Links to your site is one of the things that Google looks for to decide how important your site is, and therefore its ranking.
Not all links are considered equal. It is very important to make sure that the links you’ve are relevant. The more relevant the page is to your site the better. If the site is relevant the link is worth more than if just a page was relevant.
Here are some ways to get quality links to your site:
Reciprocal Links
Once upon a time they were considered very good, today they don’t have the value they once did but they are still useful. It is important that the links you get in this way are very relevant to the content in your site. This way reciprocal links will still increase your ranking.
Writing Articles
This is the best way of creating links that can be viewed as very relevant. It is a long slow tedious journey as it means regularly writing articles and submitting them to article directories. These articles will link back to your site by leaving a hyperlink in the bio section. Most article sites won’t grant hyperlinks in the body of the article. You can submit your articles to hundreds of article directories. Here are some you should submit to: EzineArticles.com, ArticleCity.com, and GoArticles.com.
Link Farms
A link farm is a site with scrolling pages of endless links. They grant you to place your link there no strings attached. If you encounter one run the other way. They are considered part of a spammer’s network. Linking to these sites can actually damage your ranking. Google will downgrade your links and your page rank.
Directories
Directories such as Yahoo, DMOZ and other reputable directories can greatly increase the value of your links. Try to get your site listed with DMOZ. It’s not simple but well worthwhile. To do so you will need to find the perfect category and submit your site. Keep submitting your site every 4 – 6 months until you are listed.
It is easier to get listed with Yahoo. Easier in one way and that’s you don’t need to keep trying. Not so easy in another way and that is it will cost you $299. Google sees Yahoo directory as somewhat of an authority. Your link will be valuable because of this.
One other thing that’s very important is links anchor text. What’s this? These are the words that are linked to a hyperlink. For example; To download this product clicks here. The click here’s the anchor text. It is not wrong to have “click here” it is appropriate in certain areas. If you were to search the keyword “click here” you will find Adobe to be the site listed for that keyword. This is because there are thousands of sites that point to the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
So now when you use anchor text be sure to use keywords you’re optimizing your site for. So even though “click Here” is appropriate at times, try to use your keywords as this will greatly increase the value of the link.
