I knew how to make a great website to sell my rare books, but I did not think that getting sales to grow would be so difficult. Since the website is available to everyone, I assumed that people would be jumping to purchase these books off of me. I learned the hard way that this was a wrong assumption to make.
I thought to myself “How can I’ve such low sales, when I had such a great website and a good selling strategy?”. I wondered what I could do to increase my sales. If I used my shopping cart would that help me? Finally, I began to research shopping cart software to figure out how I could fix my problem.
One thing I learned was to know what you are doing before you take the first step. It is not as easy as just choosing the first software you find. You need to research and study the different options out there so you get the one that best suites your needs.
The question of how my shopping cart can help my sales was still unanswered. I imagined what I would do. I do a lot of impulse buying at real stores, so I researched to see if this was the case on the web. I found out that impulse shopping is online too. If you give your buyer choices, or examples of what others have bought, this may increase sales.
Sometimes there are groups of people that want to buy in volume. If you’ve a chat area where they could meet and discuss your product, they might decide to purchase bulk on that item. Another idea is to give out coupons for buying more than one item. This will make them purchase multiple items, and once again improving your sales.
The shopping cart can be useful if you create another affiliated program. This will help you expose your product at a low cost, or even free. If you’ve a good shopping cart some other features may include signup process, providing statistics, and even be able to check payments.
Shipping information is very important if you are selling online. Your website must provide all the information you customer needs. Some things to include are pictures of the item, how much the shipping is, and how long does shipping take.
Asking professional help is never bad either. If you still do not know how your shopping cart can help increase sales, asking a professional will not hurt.
