Affiliate Marketing News: Researching the Right Niche Keywords
In the second of the “Affiliate Marketing News” sequence of articles, I will talk about the second step you need to take on your road to become a successful affiliate marketer. In the previous article I showed you some ways of finding good products, and in this one I will discuss the way to select the right keywords for advertising them.
I guess you know by now what “long tail keywords” are. Phrases of three or more words are considered “long tail keywords.” Here’s a quick example so you immediately comprehend what it’s all about.
Let’s say you want to promote a product that has to do with sewing. If you check the keyword “sewing patterns” on Google, you’ll get over 1,300,000 results! Obviously, you don’t want to compete against these kinds of numbers. But if you Google the exact long tail phrase “sewing patterns online” you will discover that there are only 10,600 results. If you know what you’re doing – that’s an easy niche to dominate.
I use a wonderful tool, which gives me the number of sites that are optimized for a given keyword or phrase. My tool tells me that only four out of 10,600 sites are optimized for the phrase “sewing patterns on the web.” The bad news is that the same tool also indicates that there are 176,000 searches per month for “sewing patterns” but only 4,500 searches for “sewing patterns on the internet.”
However, this is not a bad search volume, and if you also use another phrase, like “sewing patterns costumes,” which receives over 2,000 searches a month and has zero web sites optimized for it; and if you also master the next steps of the plan – you will be able to set up a promotion for your sewing product and get high search engine results.
Performing a thorough keywords research is the most essential step for achieving a lucrative promotion. This is the backbone of any successful on the web marketing business. Your first search should be for on the internet resources that would help you researching.
You should always start with the broadest term: “gardening,” “credit,” “weight loss,” “cars,” and you go from there to the long tail keyword: “online gardening tools,” “fast weight loss programs,” etc. Keep checking your findings on all the search engines and watch the results, finally you will discover 3-4 phrases of 3-5 words which are the least competitive and still have some search volume.
As I already mentioned, keywords research is the most important step in your journey to make money. You should devote your time and your best efforts to keywords research. Find on the internet helpful tools, some are free and others have a reasonable price. They’ll save you a lot of time and subsequently a lot of money.
