My Internet Marketing Isn’t Working for me!
Internet Marketing from home sounds like a life from heaven, forget the commute, just turn your computer on and make money! But there are three major factors that are constantly against you. * The temptation of new products appearing in your inbox each day. * The constant bombardment of new opportunities. * The fact the you’re working at home on your own. You’ll have to overcome these if you’re to have any success.
Discipline Yourself
Working from home for yourself requires a determined discipline that you’ll need to maintain. It’s very simple to put off work that morning because there was a good show on Satellite TV. Especially in the initial stages you’ll need to be doing this full time so don’t fabricate excuses. Get to the computer and do some work. Keep a regular schedule and earn some money!
You’re on your own, all the time. It is completely up to you whether you spend one hour a day being productive or eight hours. That is why self-discipline is so important.
It’s very simple to lose half your morning going over emails instead of getting work done. Make a list of the email lists you’re subscribed to that really matter to you and ditch the rest. If your email account gets over spammed then change it to a fresh one and only update the lists you want to remain on and your contact list. You can increase your productivity many fold by following these simple rules.
Signing up for two or three e-mail lists should be enough. Limit it to the experts you really want to hear from. Or better yet, subscribe to their RSS feeds.
It also takes self-discipline to not purchase every new product that comes out with large promises of making you massive money or simplifying your life. The basic rule to follow is if it doesn’t help you in the area you have chosen to focus in, or if you already have more than enough, then pass it by.
Having stated that about new products if you see one that could save you some hours, then give it careful consideration. Time is valuable to you and if you become more efficient by investing in a tool (or a service) that automates something then this could be a wise investment.
Still beware of the glowing sales-copy though. These people are very good at it. Make sure you NEED a product before you purchase it. Would you buy a new screwdriver if you already had one that works ok? This is for business not fun.
Constantly Focus on Your Tasks
It’s an absolute necessity to maintain your focus on your business and not get distracted. Spend some time creating a business plan and then make sure that you follow it to the letter
If, after a reasonable amount of effort and time you find that your program or project isn’t working out for you the it may be time to consign it to the failed enterprises folder. Not everything works and there will be some casualties along the way. Make sure you’re not giving up on something just because something else looks new and exciting though. Do this once and you could be business hopping forever.
To avoid becoming bored with some of the more routine tasks you will have to perform change your routine around a little after a period of time. Write a new schedule so you change the order of tasks around. We all need a tiny variety from time to time. Why not network with other home business owners from time to time? You could pick up some good advice for free.
Be aware that it might take a while before you have your business plan sufficiently fluid that you can maintain your business tasks without it becoming tedious. Constantly monitor your plan and tweak it rather than abandon it at the first sign of boredom. Don’t dump a perfectly good plan for the sake of a couple of tweaks.
